Hi everyone I'm Oisín a 6th Year 2nd Level student; studying for my Leaving Certificate (A Levels/SATs) Which will take place next June. I'm taking Art, Technical Graphics/Drawing, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Irish, French, English and LCVP all Higher Level.

I'm currently working on a Fine Art Portfolio to get into an Architecture course in Uni or for Art College. I have to uploaded it but most of the work is bigger than A2 so all the pieces are photos (2816 X 2112), I really can't find a big enough scanner. Information on each piece and the progress so far can be found in Fine Art Portfolio folder [link]:)

My interests: look :below: I'm interested in Art, solo-sports; on both land and water. And Music; both listening and playing.

Music for me epitomises my being here; it is my life and soul, and has saved me from stupid things many the time. I play music on a regular basis: flutes: Irish Trad' & Classical Concert, Whistles in any key you can imagine, Uilleann Pipes (Irish Cousin of the Bag pipes), a bit of mandolin, banjo, violin and piano too. I play with 3 bands semi-professionally: Trazz & East Clare Comhaltas & my school. And listen to far, far too much.

School&Sailing!

Sun Oct 4, 2009, 1:28 PM
Dreaded school... i'm back into 6th year aka the Irish equivalent of A-levels and Seniors in America, and because of that i will have FUCK_ALL time for this site and a few more, and social outings... i won't be staying up as late either...
The joys of 9 subjects where 7 is the norm...
Study is going fine. These days I'm catching up on my Physics notes in my free time as well as doing sailing theory, and some sketches: which i will EVENTUALLY upload, mainly for my portfolio though. Still doing homework, which is taking about 3 hours a night on average, and an hour and a half of study ontop of that a night. My DCG class (Tech Graphics/Drawing) is on a Monday and Wednesday from 18:00 to 20:00, with French grammar and oral work with Alliance Francaise. Natalie the french teacher killed me for the cedilla:( and me writing it wrong, she then taught us about the intricacies of the Passé Composé. In English we're working on King Lear, character profiles and motifs, it's my kinda stuff:D
I got bumped up to the top French Honours class, and 3rd top Irish Honours class, because of that French, is no longer a dos, or an hour of sleep, it has ACTUALLY become interesting!! As for Irish, it is still a snore, quite a bore too!

As for the sailing, conditions were crap, F1 to F2 at most, we were doing rudderless on the Ludic a big boat, that normally takes 9 but we were using it with 3, twas hard, and very dependent on the turning effects of the sails, we spent half the time going around in circles. also we had to hike out in the extreme, our toes in the toe straps leaning out fully, so my abs, thighs, pecs and arms are shattered, in pieces and very sore:(. Then we were doing Man over board, got kinda bored so we were pushing each other off and back-flipping off the boat, a good laugh and alot of craic. We were then on RS Visions for a while doing tight circles and coming alongside, and epicly failing at dry capsize: as the name suggests you are meant to stay dry, but the idiot i was with kicked in the centre board so i had to dive under and fix it. We did one, only for the idiot to hop in too soon and make it capsize to the other side... All in all a good laugh! The only thing keeping me going these days!

That's all for me atm, slán libh!

Definitely Irish:D i haven't been out on Lough Corrib, though passed it many a time. My local one is Lough Derg, biggest in the Republic, i sail on it every sunday, doing rudderless today very interesting and difficult and highly counter intuitive!

Ah! Derg .. been on that.. But just to put my friends boat back on the water at the start of fishing season for him !

Rudderless sounds "interesting" :)

Thanks for the fav'

Brian.
:iconcharon-the-ferryman:
Ah where on Derg were you,

rudderless was extremely interesting, very sensitive to the boats balance and heeling force, so try not to break rudders, it is very hard without them.

You're an avid angler! On river and lakes or some coastal fishing too?

You're welcome it really is a great shot
